One of Egypt’s most famous monuments, it was saved by the UNESCO-led campaign for the treasures of Nubia.Originally Ancient Egyptian, it was further extended during Ptolemaic rule. Philae was the last pagan temple of Ancient Egypt to be closed as per the orders of Emperor Justinian the Great. The temple was later used as a church where an alter was added. Today some of its pillars and columns bear Christian markings and crosses. It is recommended to take a taxi, start the morning tour with the High Dam, then stop on the way back by the granite quarries and check the unfinished obelisk, then end the tour with Philae Temple. Fees: LE 30 for adults and LE 15 for students
