Aswan
Situated in the eastern desert south of Aswan, this is the site where ancient Egyptians quarried their supplies of granite. Visitors would notice on this same site an unfinished obelisk, which is still in situ. It was not finished because flaws were found in the stone. If it was completed it would have weighed 1,162 tons and would have reached a height of 42 meters.
