Several Islamic monuments were restored and officially inaugurated
in the last few months within the confines of Salah Alddin Citadel
among which were:Al-Set Meska Mosque belonging to Al Set Meska, a wet – nurse for Sultan Al Nasir Mohamed, who came to Cairo with the Mamluks. Ali Labib House - an 18th century house, located on a small road nearby the citadel. It consists of three floors and will most probably be turned into a library or a teaching school.
The Well of Joseph at the Citadel - is a 100 meters deep well, dug by Salah El Din to supply soldiers at the citadel with water. Additionally, the first phase of the citadel’s new lightening system, which included the lightening of Mohamed Ali’s mosque has been successfully implemented by an Italian company. In the next phase the lightening of the entire 1.5 km of the surrounding wall, and the road of the citadel from the entrance to the end will soon be implemented.
